I have always had a passion for drawing, even as a child I was constantly doodling away on scraps of paper to references from Disney and other cartoons of the 80's.
Having graduated college with a BA Hons in Graphic Design and illustration 12 years ago, I made the decision to take my career down the graphic design path. It wasn't until 10 years later that I wanted to revisit my love for illustrations.
Since I had already produced countless visuals and concepts as a design creative, I decided that I wanted to take it further, so I began to explore the world of children's illustration,
In 2010, I started to work on a number of small commissions, which was a great learning experience for me. A year later saw my work appear in Expose 9 from Ballistic Publishing, where I received a Masters award for mypiece "Just in Time" and an Excellence award for "A guide through town". Since then my work has appeared in the London Underground as part of the artbelow campaigns and have also had commissions from the NHS, The Big Challenge and Oxford University Press.
The process in which I create my illustrations from is very simple. I start off producing a number of pencil sketches, once I have chosen one I like the look of, I begin to refine it. Once I am happy with the final sketch, I have it scanned into the computer and begin the colour process inPhotoshop using my trusted Wacom Tablet. I love to use eye catching colours in all my work, as I find it helps draw the viewers interest further into the image.
Being based in London, I never have to look far for inspiration, whether it's from the diverse people treading the streets or the amazing architecture that surrounds me, all the hubbub this city generates only fuels my imagination further.
You can also see examples of my work appearing in ImagineFX's January 2012 issue.
